Instruction
God Doesn't Care (Geffen)

By: Mike SOS

Instruction is an outfit teaming the post hardcore fretwork of Tom Capone (ex-Quicksand) and the controversial rants and blistering screams of Artie Shepherd (ex-Error Type 11). The 12-track effort sounds a lot like the derivative of the aforementioned previous endeavors, but with a radio friendly coating, as songs like the airy guitar-driven "I'm Dead", the dissonantly groovy "Lean on You" or the venomous stomp of "Your Punk Sucks" contain the right mixture of vitriol and sugar to appease the masses and the underground alike. While Instruction's prior glories have been bastardized and repackaged in many other band's sounds, this quintet decided to go for the brass ring on God Doesn't Care and attempt to achieve mainstream success. By rocking out like an arena rock band while armed with the weaponry of its past, Instruction's tactile master plan may send the current wave of radio rock bands heading for the hills.
