Sleight Of Hand (Lowtunes)
By: Alex Steininger
The first thing that bothered me about this album is the fact I had to crank up my stereo to hear it, after listening to several other albums at normal volumes and being able to hear them fine. The mastering job is less than adequate here. Once cranked up, the recording is airy and distant, sounding as if were playing through a wall. Couple that with the ordinary lo-fi pop-rock recordings of Low's and you have a disc that just doesn't feel as if is an album, giving off a lot of demo flags and leaving you unsatisfied and moving on to the next thing. I'll give it a D.
