New Wave Hookers
Not Even A Virgin b/w Thunderbird (ZZ Top) 7" (Junk Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Portland, Oregon's punk band New Wave Hookers bring the grime, filth, drugs, sex, and rock 'n' roll sound of New York right to the Rose City and dirty everything up with their trashy, alcoholic, "I'm in love with a porn star" attitudes. And, we love them for it. Call it punk, or just call it rock 'n' roll, but no matter what you label this music, the band is going to run you over with their raunchy, rambunctious, ferocious sound. If you're not into them, that's fine, but they're not going to stop irritating you and hitting on your sister until they've drank way too much, slept with everyone (including your baby sister), and made everyone feel the energy they're about. "Not Even A Virgin," the A-side, starts the rocking and a rolling, while their ZZ Top cover, "Thunderbird," cruises along with more mayhem. I'll give it an A.
