Crispy Ambulance
Scissorgun (Darla)

By: Alex Steininger

Crispy Ambulance's Scissorgun has all the makings of a great indie rock record. The songs are poppy and rockin', the guitars adding a level of noise over the subtle pop. But, what makes Scissorgun nothing more than a run-of-the-mill rock record is the vocals, a treacherous, over powering force that sound as if they belong in a heavy metal band, not on an indie rock record. They grate and grate on your nerves until you can't take it anymore. Then you're forced to take the CD out and stomp it to pieces so it never torments you again. I'll give this an F.
