Unwritten Law
Here's To The Mourning (Lava / Atlantic)

By: Jeb Branin

UNWRITTEN LAW transcend simplistic pop-punk on Here's to the Morning opting for a sound that is more dense and richly textured than most of their peers. The result is an album that is not as readily accessible as you might expect but, as is often the case, the lack of instant accessibility translates into an overall more rewarding listening experience once things are finally digested. Anyone negative review you read of this album was most likely written by someone who gave it no more than a casual listen. Casual and UNWRITTEN LAW are not a good combination. My only complaint about the entire endeavor would be that "Save Me (Wake Up Call)," which is the "hit single", is one of the least exciting tracks on the album.
