Tarantula Hawk
Tarantula Hawk (Life Is Absue)

By: Jeb Branin

This album is being repressed by Life is Abuse because the first time around it didn't get much promotion or garner too many reviews the first time around. To be honest, it's not surprising that few reviews were published because this album almost defies description. That isn't to say it doesn't DERSERVE description (it does!!), simply that as a reviewer it might be hard to know where to start. "Experimental" as a description only scratches the surface but at the same time, unlike many experimental releases, this one is not so far flung from the norm that it is unapproachable (and thus undigestable) by the masses.

Imagine, if you will, the members of NEUROSIS playing freeform jazz versions of obscure tracks by prog/psychedelic stalwarts like FRANK ZAPPA, PINK FLOYD, NEKTAR, or even IRON BUTTERFLY. If you can do that, you have a hint - an inkling, if you will, of where TARANTULA HAWK is coming from. If you are one of those people who likes having CDs that nobody you know has, or can even relate to, then you ought to buy this yesterday.
