 Queens, NY based outfit Section 8 Cartel have found the heavy groove, aptly displayed on its four-song sampler CD. Shifting dissonant Deftones chords within melodic choruses a la Thrice, S8C mix post-hardcore, So Cal punk rock, ambient metal, and the catchiness of grunge, making one beastly mix. If you dig the heavy handed yet memorable approach of Chevelle and Tool at its most direct, then Section 8 Cartel's contribution will be welcomed with open ears.
