Plastic Compilation Volume 6 (Nettwerk America)

By: [email protected]

It's not often I can say that I have fallen in love with a CD compilation.

As far as CD compilations go the concept is quite simple. Take a bunch of tracks that share a common denominator and slap them on a disc, thereby hopefully exposing the bands to a much greater audience than their own fan base. Simply put I usually approach compilations with an odd mix of apprehension and anticipation.

Pleasantly enough, PLASTIC COMPLIATION Vol. 6 from Nettwerk Productions turned out to be a sparkling gem of "feel good" electronica. No angst, or pity here. What you will find is some of the most state-of-the-art hard dance and trance music. Cue the strobing lights, crack the light-sticks and throw down your best moves, this is party music.

The well-known fan favorites are of course represented adequately with tracks by the CHEMICAL BROTHERS, ANDY HUNTER, FATBOY SLIM, and LUKE SLATER, but I found my attention drawn to the relative new comers like WAY OUT WEST, TIMO MAAS, and, EVOLUTION (featuring Jayn Hanna).

As an additional bonus, it appears that the mixes of the tracks selected were rare and unique to this compilation only. The compilation was enough to interest me in hearing what the original incaranations of these songs. Is that more than anyone should ask of a compilation?
