Leechmilk / Sofa King Killer
Split CD (Tee Pee Records)

By: Jeb Branin

I was definitely pleased to see this CD come across my desk. LEECHMILK are fast becoming one of my favorite sludge bands. Their bone-powdering heaviness is only matched by their uncompromisingly harsh delivery. Their half of the CD opens with an audio sample from a real execution and it gets more intense from there. On track two "Dirtclot" they even up the ante a bit by playing much faster than normal - like GRIEF would sound if they were covering a recent GOB (Reno) tune. If a steamroller made music, this is what it would sound like. SOFA KING KILLER are not quite as mind-frying as LEECHMILK but their sludge-fest is certainly a good choice for this split. SKK call their noise "crusty mother f*ckn rock and roll" and I would have to say that is about as accurate a description as you are going to get. They hold nothing back pouring pure blood, sweat and tar into their tunes. This split is the perfect way for SLUDGE fans to tide themselves over until the NOOTHGRUSH discographies get released.
