Pennywise
Land of the Free? (Epitaph)

By: Alex Steininger

Punk mainstays Pennywise are back with another politically charged, in-your-face collection of songs that voice their disapproval of society, their call for a change in public policy, and their fingers pointed at the parties at fault. Put offensively, this is a big fuck you record to the government and society at large, and the injustice and inequality that seems to present itself at every opportunity. All this packaged around their ragging, guitar-fueled take on Southern California's pop version of hardcore and punk, a la Bad Religion. A solid, knockout performance from a band that does not know the meaning of bad music. I'll give it a B+.
