Mayday
I Know Your Troubles Been Long (Bar-None)

By: Alex Steininger

Former Lullaby for the Working Class front man and current guitarist/vocalist for Cursive, Ted Stevens' other musical identity, Mayday, have released their second full-length, I Know Your Troubles Been Long. Carrying on in the tradition of Mayday's debut, the folk-inspired indie-rock record Old Blood (Saddle Creek), I Know... finds Stevens and his band, members who have worked with Bright Eyes, Azure Ray, and Cursive, incorporate country into their plain, cut-and-dry indie-rock sound. Light, reflective, and sparse at times, the songs have enough diversity (with the band's folk and country leanings on certain tracks) to keep you listening throughout, while their soft, cozy nature makes you feel comfortable enough to fall asleep to them. I'll give it a B-.
