Peaches
Fatherfucker (XL Recordings)

By: Cam Lindsay

Queen of the Potty Mouthed, Canadian-cum-German wonderwoman Peaches has finally unleashed her follow-up to 2000's influential The Teaches Of Peaches. The aptly named Fatherfucker, continues Peaches' love affair with minimal beatbox punk rock heightened by lyrics that would bring on the death penalty in most parts of the world. As controversial as ever, Peaches never holds back, whether it's encouraging all the boys to "shake yer dix" and all the women to "shake yer tits" or convincing us that she's the kinda bitch that we wanna get with, she's gonna say it no matter what the consequences are. Iggy Pop makes an appearance on the guitar heavy "Kick It", featuring the pair on call and response duty. Playing off each other like a couple of kids at the playground, they refer to each other's careers with a wild sense of humor. "Rock 'N' Roll" sees the former Merrill Nisker cash in her trendy rock chips for a scorching piece of trashed up garage. Though she's upped the rock intake (which includes the Joan Jett sampling "I Don't Give A..."), Peaches doesn't abandon her simplistic electro side. "Back It Up, Boys" and "Shake Yer Dix" each guarantee packed dance floors at any club brave enough to add her to the play list. Frank, fearless and in a world of her own, Peaches is the queen of trash and certainly the most significant woman in rock today.
