Eastmountainsouth
Eastmountainsouth (Dreamworks)

By: Alex Steininger

Los Angeles folk/country duo Kat Maslich and Peter Adams deliver a stunning self-titled debut. Eastmountainsouth showcases an organic approach, full of earthy tones and simple, though substance-filled compositions with not a hair out of place. Solid production and Maslich's beautiful, bluegrass-inspired voice (she grew up in Roanoke, VA, on Clinch Mountain, home to bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley), while Adams' voice is equally complimentary, both playing almost too perfectly with the natural grace of the record. The songs found within Eastmountainsouth are solid and stunning, as inviting as they come, instantly warming you up to them without a single hesitation. Eastmountainsouth has a bright future ahead of them. I'll give it an A-.
