Bif Naked
Purge (Her Royal Majesty Records)

By: Alex Steininger

On Purge, the latest from Bif Naked is a melodic, guitar-driven rock record of the loudest proportions. Taking her cue from her previous releases, which delivered punk vengeance alongside tightly wound melodies, Bif Naked comes full circle with a mature, balls-to-the-wall record of smart, intelligent lyrics filled with spite, anger, and acceptance. Bif Naked's motivation isn't to attack or destroy, it is merely to Purge, if you will, the memories that keep her down, while she forges ahead and makes it clear nothing is going to stand in her way. And in the process she creates a top-notch power-pop gone punk record with lots of roaring guitars cluttering up an otherwise beautiful melody, and that is what gives the songs their dirt-under-the-nail vibe that fuels Bif Naked. I'll give it a B+.
