GOB
The Kill Yourself Commandment 12" (Satan's Pimp Records)

By: Jeb Branin

I obviously savor extreme music and this new 12" from Reno's GOB may be the zenith of violent sound. The combination of spastic, wrenching hardcore and wall-of-sound noise is like a jackhammer inside your cranium that is trying its damnedest to burst out. This album will blacken your eyes, split your lips, bust your nose, snap your neck and you'll love every second of it. The eruption of sound on these twelve inches of swirled purple wax makes Mt. St. Helen's look like a party favor. Although there are enough extreme hardcore bands out there trying to do something different to keep the scene endlessly fascinating I can honestly tell you that there are none that I have heard doing what GOB are doing. They take hatecore thrash and interpret it with an AmRep perspective and play it like a sludge band on overdrive who has melted down a stack of FLIPPER albums and injected them intravenously. If you don't buy this and you don't play it louder than hell you are a complete waste of humanity... and if you think for a second that I am writing about the Canadian pop punk band who stole the name Gob then you are truly hopeless now aren't you?
