Lockgroove
Calm Right Down (Shark Attack Music)

By: Alex Steininger

Fusing space-pop with elements of shoegazer and Brit-pop, Lockgroove's Calm Right Down has the goods all around, whether they're rocking out or toning it down to really make your mind spin and swirl. The songs are enticing, using air and absence (during the soft songs) as additional instruments, while the full-on rock songs still implement these elements, while layering on other sounds, ensuring consistency while turning up the juice. The songs have the hooks, and the band knows how to keep your attention, never allowing you to get bored, the track order keeping things as lively as can be. Yes, Lockgroove has hit the head on the nail with Calm Right Down and delivered a spellbinding record. I'll give it an A-.
