Camaro Hair
Far From OK (Death on Vinyl Records/Radio Contraband)

By: Alex Steininger

Portland, Oregon pretty boys Camaro Hair deliver a Brit-pop dosed record of melodic beauty. Creating a soaring, swirling collection of piano, acoustic, and electric guitars backed up by an either relaxing or rocking rhythm section, both of which help propel this radio-friendly, should-be pop and adult alternative hits collection into the stratosphere. Recently re-released on Death on Vinyl Records with new artwork, the record looks better now - and with a new track order, comes together better as well. It's polished, stylish, and hook-laden; it's only draw back, much like the original release, is that sometimes the band gets too locked into the high gloss, radio-polish world they revolve in, helping to drown out the power of their songs and turning it into a mundane affair. However, the good outweigh the bad here and if you're searching for a Northwest-based band that knows how to create vibrant Brit-pop, this is the band. I'll give it a C+.
