Andrea Maxand
Where The Words Go (Ghost Weed Press)

By: Alex Steininger

Nine songs and thirty-eight minutes, Andrea Maxand's sophomore full-length, Where The Words Go is a blossoming display of indie-rock cool, pop awareness, and heartfelt buoyancy. From the opening "Cassie's Song", a soaring, guitar-fueled art-pop drenched indie-rocker, through the crunchy "Everyone Can See You", or the rhythmic "Columns", Maxand delivers an album of delicate balance between straight ahead and left-of-center, creating an indie-rock record that many will marvel at, a record that fuses beauty with brawn, elegance with rough-around-the-edges sentiments, and power with subtlety. I'll give it a B+.
