Jen Gloeckner
Miles Away (self-released)

By: Alex Steininger

Female folk-pop music with a heart-on-the-sleeve approach, the fragile, acoustic-based songs of Jen Gloeckner that comprise Miles Away are tender and triumphant, laid-back, groove-induced folk jaunts through memories both good and bad. The slow-moving tunes trickle down on the listener like raindrops after a hard rain. The songs bring to mind the early mornings, waking up, and feeling as if today is the day, with last night's memories still haunting you. From all-out folk to more emotional pop, the record runs the gamut and offers something for folk and pop fans alike. I'll give it a B-.
