Snowdogs
Deep Cuts, Fast Remedies (Victory Records)

By: Jeb Branin

This CD has been a more-than-frequent regular in my stereo for months. For one reason or another I never got around to reviewing it? maybe because I couldn't stop listening to it long enough to actually write anything. Or maybe because every time I put it on I'm bouncing around so wildly and singing along so enthusiastically that I can't operate a keyboard, but whatever reason, I've been negligent. Not that you should use that as an excuse for inattentiveness on your part. "Deep Cuts, Fast Remedies" has the distinction of joining "Specium S*mmer" by THE DUDOOS as one of the two best melodicore records of the year. I hate to use the words "pop punk" but there is no doubt that the SNOWDOGS are both pop and punk. But they are certainly not in the Fat/Lookout/Epitaph mold. Don't think GREEN DAY, they are far more reminiscent of a band like NO FUN AT ALL. Yummy.
