Th' Legendary Shack*Shaker
Cockadoodledon't (Bloodshot Records)

By: Mark A. Lawrence the IV

If I ever find myself naked behind the wheel of a semi, drunk on vodka, plowing through a Polka Convention, I'm sure Th' Legendary Shack*Shakers will be playing on the radio. Their Cockadoodledon't is a mad house of sound that overwhelms the senses. "Help me from My Brain" found me being chased by gypsies through a Hunter S. Thompson nightmare of circus freaks and slot machines, and I don't even take drugs. You can't put this music into any category that it wouldn't't bust out of screaming at the top of it lungs as if possessed. Think Boo Radley on a three day speed binge, arm him with a microphone and back him with a band of the criminally insane three day off meds , and you're getting close. Hell, the harp player alone had to make some dark deal to play that good. And as for a rest, you don't get one with this CD, you're at top speed the whole time. So pick up that fifth, find the nearest truck stop in the yellow pages and make sure that your underwear is clean, cause you never know who's going to see it.
