EE
For 100 We Try Harder (Asian Man Records)

By: Alex Steininger

San Francisco's EE is comprised of Soo Young Park from Seam on guitar/vocals, Tobin Mori from Korea Girl on guitar/vocals, and Peter Nguyen from Total Shutdown on drums. For 100 We Try, their latest, is an improvisational indie rock record, one comfortable with experimentation within a song. Filled with noodle-y guitars, subtle rhythms, and a spacious presence, EE's sound wraps around you, allowing you to absorb it all, while feeling a part of it. At times sounding empty and bleak, the band sounds best when vocals are present, though their instrumentals, which can grow tiring, seem well composed, with everything sounding as if it in the right place. I'll give this a B-.
