Shutdown
Something To Prove (Victory Records)

By: Jeb Branin

Not to be confused with the far more exciting THE SHUTDOWNS on Theologian Records, SHUTDOWN are a four piece outfit who play brawny, classic sounding chugga-chugga hardcore. They are very good at what they do and the second song on here called "The Judged" is a legitimate barnstormer. This is one of those releases that is really hard to say anything bad about because I really like this flavor of hardcore and it couldn't be executed any cleaner but on the flip side it is hard to get excited about this CD as well because they are treading well worn paths here. Paths that have been smoothed by far more dynamic acts. If you live and breathe the Victory style then this is going to be a worthwhile release but if you don't or you already have a few favorites in the genre then there is nothing on "Something To Prove" that is going to prove o be something you will need.
