Excelsis: A Winter's Song vol. 2 (Projekt)

By: DJ Dysdynia

In contrast, to all the incorrect stereotypes about dark gothic music, here is a second generation of dark wave Christmas music to illuminate the contradiction. Following the steps of Excelsis: A Dark Noel, the people at Projekt have collaborated an excellent bounty of various talents for this new tradition. Excelsis vol.2 covers all styles of dark music from ethereal, industrial and gothic. London After Midnight performs a gentle Christmas ballad, which was previously only available on their Oddities CD called, "The Christmas Song." Up and coming, The Cruxshadows give their version of John Lennon's "Happy X-mas (War is Over)". Lycia covers an eerie version of "O Little Town Of Bethlehem" and Julia Kent of Rasputina lays a beautiful instrumental of "What Child Is This." Also featured is, Human Drama doing "I Believe In Father Christmas" and Rhea's Obsession with guest vocalist Athan Maroulis caroling "We Three Kings." Other artists that have offered their Christmas gifts are The Machine in the Garden, Faith & Disease, Sofia Run, Thanatos, Siddal, Unto Ashes, Lynn Canfield from The Moon Seven Times, and El Duende. Excelsis vol. 2 is a great succession rejoicing with it's incredible talent and beauty adding something to the holidays that has slowly been slipping away.
