Motorhead
Snake Bite Love (CMC Records)

By: Geoff Melton

Throughout their 27 year history, and through numerous personnel changes (band founder Lemmy Kilmister is the only original member) Motorhead has continued to keep their focus, producing raw, straight-ahead metal with a punk-like edge. While their latest release is more of the same, it has some interesting twists and occasionally an almost radio-friendly side, but never loses any of its bite. Among the highlights are the cool call/response lyrics of "Dogs of War", "Dead and Gone", which intersperses acoustic sections with brutal intensity, the ready for radio title track, the boogie beat of "Don't Lie To Me" and the raucous "Desperate For You". Snake Bite Love is one of the strongest Motorhead releases ever, and will definitely appeal to those outside their burgeoning cult following.
